Hi! I’m Nyamal.
When I came to America, I was ten years old.
I showed up with no parents, no safety net, and no guarantees. I came with only hope and a belief that if I worked hard, I could build a better life. Growing up, I had to be the child who went to class, as well as the parent who got them there. I had to learn a new language and new way of life. That experience shaped who I am today.
I’ve founded a nonprofit (Kondial Kel International: South Sudan READ) based in community-oriented advocacy, and earned my Bachelor’s of Health Education in Community Health, with a Child Development & Family Science minor from NDSU. I have a Master’s in Public Health from Benedictine University.
In 2022, I made history with my election to Fargo Public Schools’ Board of Education as the first . I’m proud of my work there, and I look forward to continuing that service in the North Dakota Senate.
I am a mother, a refugee, and a proud elected official. I know what it feels like to work twice as hard just to have a seat at the table. And with that hard work, I’ve gotten results.
I did not give up when people doubted me. Every time I was met with a barrier, I found a way around it. Every time I was told I did not belong, I built my own table and brought people with me.
That’s why I decided to run for office in the first place.
I am running for every child who feels cast aside.
I am running for every parent struggling to make ends meet.
I am running for every neighbor who’s been overlooked, underestimated, or written off.
I am running for every American who is tired of division.
I'm running because I believe that together, we can create opportunities for our families, neighbors, and for future generations. That’s what this campaign is all about.
Together, we win.
